This page describes step-by-step how to use free2collect for those of you who are new to the site.
In addition, many pages throughout the site have Information panels describing what you can do on that page. Please read these as they are quite helpful and may answer any questions you have.

How do I submit an item?
  • Go to the ITEMS menu.
  • Choose Submit an Item
  • Fill in the resulting form and click Submit

How do I know if someone is interested in my item?
  • Go to the MY ACCOUNT menu.
  • Choose My Messages.
  • Any messages from interested free2collectors will be displayed.
  • In addition you will receive e-mail alerts about any interest in your items

How do I edit one of my items?
  • Go to the MY ACCOUNT menu.
  • Choose My Items.
  • Click an item and you will be taken to the Edit/Delete screen.
  • To make changes to the item details change the form entries and click Submit.

How do I delete one of my items?
  • Go to the MY ACCOUNT menu.
  • Choose My Items.
  • Click an item and you will be taken to the Edit/Delete screen.
  • To remove an item from free2collect along with any associated messages click Delete.

How do I contact another free2collector about collecting one of their items?
  • Go to ITEMS menu.
  • Choose Available Items.
  • Click an item that you are interested in collecting.
  • Read the details and if you are still interested click the 'I'm Interested'.
  • Fill in the resulting form and click Submit.
  • Check your My Messages screen from the MY ACCOUNT menu regularly to check for a response.
  • Arrange collection with the item owner by exchanging messages through My Messages.

How do I contact another free2collector about giving them an item they want?
  • Go to ITEMS menu.
  • Choose Wanted Items.
  • Click an item that you think you can help with.
  • Read the details and if you still feel you can help click the 'I can give you one of these!'
  • Fill in the resulting form and click Submit.
  • Check your My Messages screen from the MY ACCOUNT menu regularly to check for a response.
  • Arrange for your offered item to be picked up by exchanging messages through My Messages.

How do I send a message to another free2collector?
  • First express an interest in another free2collector's item.
  • After they reply you can begin exchanging messages.
  • Go to the MY ACCOUNT menu.
  • Choose My Messages.
  • Click one of the messages that the item owner has sent to you.
  • Type your message and send it.
NOTE: Additional messages can be sent subsequently if you wish.

How long will my item stay on free2collect?
The maximum length of time an item will remain on free2collect is 30 days.
You can re-submit the item after it has been removed at the end of the 30 days.

How do I view or edit my profile?
  • Go to the MY ACCOUNT menu.
  • Choose My Profile.
  • Fill in the resulting form and click Update.

How do I configure new item e-mail notifications?
  • Go to the MY ACCOUNT menu.
  • Choose My Profile.
  • Choose either County, Local Area or None.
  • You will then receive e-mail alerts when a new item is posted.

What do I do if I forget my username or password?
  • Go to LOGIN / REGISTER menu.
  • Choose Login.
  • Choose the 'Forgotten password?' link beside the Username box.
  • If you have forgotten your username and password enter the firstname and postcode you registered with.
  • If you have forgotten your password then enter the username you registered with.
  • Click the Submit button and a new password (and username if applicable) will be emailed to you.
  • Now login with your username and the new password (it is case sensitive).
  • Go to the MY ACCOUNT menu.
  • Choose My Profile.
  • Enter a new password of your own choosing in the 'Change password' and 'Confirm password' boxes.
  • Click the Submit button and your password will be changed.
